About the Research Fellowship
The CBPS’ Research Fellowship commenced last year as we celebrated our 25th Year Anniversary. The Fellowship aims to help scholars develop research skills in the areas of Education, Gender, Governance, Health & Nutrition, Public Finance, Livelihoods and Social Security.
The fellows will work in the CBPS office located in Bengaluru and will work with our research staff to gain valuable experience, support, and learnings in a collegial and academically rigorous environment which includes in-house talks, seminars as well as other public events. With the help of a mentor, the fellowship will allow scholars to be part of the ongoing research projects in an area of interest to the scholar.
The Fellowship includes
- Opportunities to work with professionals in research and public policy
- A monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000
- Access to CBPS library, in-house workshops and talks
- Field visit opportunities (related to projects)
- Opportunities to publish
The fellowship does not provide funds for housing, transportation, or any other financial support.
Who can apply?
The Fellowship is primarily geared towards scholars who have recently completed their Bachelor’s or are in the final year of their undergraduate programme. CBPS especially encourages applications from scholars from historically underrepresented groups, including those underrepresented in terms of class, caste, gender, religion, linguistic affiliation, first-generation scholars etc. Scholars from various disciplines and methodological approaches are invited to apply.

- A Statement of Purpose (SoP), in not more than 1500 words, describing why you are interested in one or more research area listed above
- A curriculum vitae or resume (in Word format)
- Two letters of reference

- Duration of the fellowship: One year starting from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025
