Call for Applications! for the post of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in gender, sexuality and critical diversity research!
The Centre for Women’s and Gender Research (SKOK) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in gender, sexuality and critical diversity research starting the 1st of August 2024 or as agreed upon. The position is for a fixed-term period of four years.
About the project:
The call invites project proposals that have a gender, sexuality and/or critical diversity perspective on global societal challenges such as the relationship between technology/humans/post humanity, health, climate change and biodiversity loss, international migration, urbanization, geopolitical tensions, militarization, democracy, freedom of expression and decolonization.
Applicants with a PhD relevant for the research fields cited above, are welcome to apply. The project proposal is expected have a clear theoretical profile and contribute to critical thinking in relation to global challenges related to different empirical fields. Proposals that have potential for further theoretical and/or methodological development and innovation, and thus contribute to the centre’s theoretical profile, will be preferred.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
- The applicant must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent foreign degree in a discipline that is relevant for the PhD project (as mentioned above). The doctoral dissertation must have been submitted for evaluation within the closing date of the application. The PhD degree must be obtained prior to appointment.
- The applicant must provide a project proposal within one of the above-mentioned research fields, including a progress plan for the project’s main activities, and a plan for publishing results in recognized international channels.
- The applicant must be able to work independently in a well-structured way and have good cooperation skills.
- Applicants must have a good command of English.
In the assessment, the main emphasis will be placed upon the quality of the proposed project, the applicant’s academic qualifications and the feasibility of the project.
In cases where applicants have approximately equivalent qualifications, motivation and the applicant’s personal eligibility will be taken into account.

- A gross annual salary of NOK 615 700 (Code 1352), equal to pay grade 63 in the state salary scale, following ordinary meriting regulations. Further salary advancement will depend on seniority in the position.

- Up to five academic works (may include theses, monographs and articles) that are to be given special consideration in the assessment of your academic qualifications.
- A short summary of the PhD-thesis (up to three pages).
- CV.
- Transcripts and diplomas showing completion of the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and diploma for the PhD or documentation showing that the thesis has been submitted for assessment.
- Relevant certificates/references.
- The names and contact information for two referees. One of these must be a supervisor for the PhD thesis.
