Below are the roles and responsibilities for the Litigation Coordinator role based in Mumbai/New Delhi:
Responsibilities
- Implement legal holds in connection with demand letters, subpoenas, investigations, litigation, and other legal actions and processes to which the Company is subject;
- Manage and maintain subpoena and litigation-related records including: recording all preservation and subpoena response efforts in real time, issuing legal hold orders, collecting and recording custodian acknowledgments, updating electronic systems and working with IT personnel to suspend auto-deletion policies on relevant project files and email accounts, and responding to project team members’ individual inquiries regarding preservation requirements.
- Assist in identifying all applicable custodians and data repositories and cross-reference information across multiple systems;
- Leverage litigation hold software and other tools to preserve and gather data subject to litigation holds;
- Coordinate transfer of responsive data to outside counsel as appropriate to respond to discovery demands;
- Review and analyze data sets and run reports and conduct other inquiries relating to active and historical legal holds;
- Support the enforcement of data preservation and retention policies across the organization to ensure compliance with litigation hold-related obligations; and
- Ability to manage sensitive, confidential information.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of legal/compliance experience;
- Familiarity with subpoenas, complaints, and similar legal documents;
- Experience with discovery processes and associated technology platforms, including ESI searches and e-discovery tools and software;
- Experience with litigation hold software (including but not limited to Exterro) and other litigation support tools;
- Experience working with diverse teams in multiple countries/regions as part of a multinational company;
- Familiarity with and understanding of legal principles, including litigation hold and data preservation requirements;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (including word processing and spreadsheet applications);
- Ability to work independently and efficiently and thrive in a high growth and fast-paced environment;
- Ability to operate autonomously to efficiently and independently problem solve, and to be a strong team player when working with cross-functional teams;
- Ability to interact comfortably with all levels of the Company, including executives and senior management;
- Ability to multitask, effectively prioritize, and meet time critical deadlines for multiple simultaneous projects, including managing assignments and interfacing with individuals across multiple time zones;
- Ability to properly handle and manage sensitive, confidential and proprietary information;
- Must be capable of operating in tandem with colleagues in a highly collaborative fashion and execute assigned tasks with precision, thoughtfulness and attention to detail;
- Experience in disputes/litigation a plus;
- Familiarity with basic rules of evidence and document preservation a plus;
- Previous international experience and experience with litigation support a plus.
