About the Competition :
The inaugural Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Memorial National Article Writing
Competition, 2024, organized by the Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Chair on Human Rights at
the School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, stands
as a beacon of intellectual engagement and advocacy for human rights.
Details of the opportunity :
Eligibility :
All students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in law (both three-year L.L.B. course &
five-year L.L.B. course) and LL.M from any law college/school/university in India are
eligible to participate in this competition.
Themes :
• Modernization of Human Rights Law Framework in India
• Application of International Human Rights in India
• Enumerated and Un-enumerated Human Rights in India
• Enforcement of Human Rights in India: Issues and Challenges
• Role of Judiciary and Human Rights Institutions
Prizes :
The winners of the competition will be awarded the following prizes:
• First Prize: Rs. 10000 + Medal + Certificate
• Second Price: Rs. 5000 + Medal + Certificate
• Third Prize: Rs. 2500 + Medal + Certificate
* The winners of the first, second and third prizes are also entitled to join as Research
Interns for six months (Online) at Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Chair under the guidance of
Chair Professor, Justice (Rtd.) K. M. Joseph, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India.
* Authors of the top 15 articles will also be offered a Research Intern Position for two
months (Online) at Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Chair under the guidance of Chair Professor,
Justice (Rtd.) K. M. Joseph, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India.
* All the selected entries will be published as Chapters in an ISBN-numbered edited
book.
