Overview

The PGDCLP provides in-depth knowledge and understanding of consumer laws and their application for consumers, businesses, professionals, and service providers. Graduates from the programme are equipped for roles requiring consumer dispute management and resolution, and advisory roles in areas related to business strategy, policy, and business liability. The PGDCLP has been provided continuously since 2011.

Programme Highlights:

  • Historical overview of the development of consumer law internationally, as well as in India, providing contextual expertise for those interfacing with consumers as business representatives, as well as for individuals and consumer organisations interfacing with businesses.
  • Builds expertise in areas such as service deficiencies and the rights of consumers in online transactions.
  • Includes studies of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration, mediation, conciliation, and Lok Adalats that ensure graduates are able to put into application the knowledge and understanding they have developed in the programme.
  • The programme is spread across one year and gives learners the flexibility to design their own learning pathway.

Eligibility

The minimum eligibility for applying for this programme is a graduate degree (in law or other fields) from a recognized university.

Students with a degree certificate or its equivalent from any UGC-recognized university, Association of Indian Universities, CA, CS, ICWA, Open University/distance learning can apply. There shall be no restriction as to age, nationality, gender or employment status.
