Call for interest – Conference: The Scope of Litigation under the UNCLOS! Deadline- 1 September 2024!
The Judicial Jurisdiction Project – a joint project of the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea (NILOS) and the Utrecht University Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law (UCWOSL) at Utrecht University School of Law – is pleased to announce this call of expression of interest to participate in the conference The Scope of Litigation under the UNCLOS – Where are we now and where may we be going?. The tentative program of the conference is available via the link below. Registration details and motivation have to be submitted by 1 September 2024 at the latest.
This conference, which will be convened in-person only in Utrecht on 21 and 22 November 2024, aims at dissecting the judicial jurisdiction of tribunals under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). By capturing the current state of affairs and potential trends in this respect it is intended to further the discussion on the future role of dispute settlement under the Convention and its impact on the Convention as a whole.
Motivation to attend the conference
To ensure having an engaged audience we ask participants to register providing a motivation (max. 250 words) explaining why you are interested in the topic of judicial jurisdiction (in the law of the sea) and what you are expecting from the conference in this respect. You may submit your registration details (name and affiliation) to our secretariat together with your motivation. Registration details and motivation have to be submitted by 1 September 2024 at the latest. You will be informed by 15 September at the latest whether your participation will be accepted
