The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice (SCCJ) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor. This full-time, benefits-eligible, academic-year (9-month) faculty position will begin in August 2025. Applicants with specializations in any substantive area within criminology and criminal justice will be considered. Preference will be given to individuals who will add new perspectives to existing strengths of the faculty. We will consider any candidate eligible for appointment as a tenure-track assistant or associate professor in August 2025 (e.g., current ABDs, recently completed Ph.D., postdoctoral scholars, current assistant or associate professors).
Job Duties:
· Teach undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in person, online, and hybrid.
· Advise and mentor students.
· Maintain and strengthen a record of scholarly productivity as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and/or books, external funding, presentations at national conferences, and other translational, scholarly documents (white papers, invited talks, etc.).
· Provide service contributions to the school, college, university, and profession.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, or a related social-scientific field from a regionally-accredited university, by time of appointment
- Strong evidence of a novel research agenda, and demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service; and
- Consistent with ASU’s Charter, a demonstrated commitment to inclusion.

- A letter of application (two-page maximum) in which the applicant describes their fit with the assistant/associate professor position relative to the qualifications listed in this advertisement;
- A complete curriculum vitae or résumé that details the applicant’s educational and professional history;
- A two-page (maximum) statement of the applicant’s research agenda;
- The names and complete contact information (titles, organization affiliations, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses) for three professional references. If ABD, at least one reference must be a current supervisor or chair.
Interviews will be held at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus. Applicants are expected to give a research presentation if invited for an in-person interview.

The initial application deadline is Friday, September 30, 2024 at 5:00p.m. Arizona Time Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool. Applications in the reserve pool may then be reviewed in the order in which they are received until the position is filled.
