Call for applications – One PhD Scholarship in Fundamental Rights at the Hertie School

One Three-year scholarship to pursue a full-time PhD in the field of Fundamental Rights starting from September 2025.

The Hertie School is offering one three-year scholarship for an exceptional candidate to pursue a full-time PhD in the field of Fundamental Rights starting from September 2025. The successful candidate will be part of the Centre for Fundamental Rights team at the Hertie School.

We invite PhD candidates with exceptionally strong academic track records at undergraduate and master’s level (or equivalent) in human rights or related fields, particularly with academic backgrounds in law, politics or related disciplines, with strong demonstrated interest in research of human rights theories, law, policy, and institutions.

Candidates will be supervised by the incoming Director of the Centre and have an opportunity to join a vibrant, diverse and multi-disciplinary community of scholars. Enquiries should be addressed to the Centre Manager, Dr Michal Kramer.
