The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, invites applications for the following full-time Bengaluru-based positions at the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) for a period of three years: Research Assistant (1 position) and Research Assistant – Legal (1 position).

About the Centre  

The Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) was established as a specialised multi-disciplinary research centre of NLSIU on April 1, 1996. The Centre integrates research, direct field action, and teaching on child rights law. We use law and socio-legal strategies as tools for transformative social change to enable children to live with dignity. Our aim is to ensure social justice, human rights and quality of life for all children in India, with special focus on equitable quality education, care, protection and justice for marginalised and excluded children.

I. Research Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Research and documentation support for the programme on the right to food and nutrition.
  • Data collection, compilation and analysis.
  • Documentation and generation of knowledge products based on the research outputs.
  • Assisting with external communication and outreach.
  • Assisting with organising events.

Qualifications

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Law, social science or related field.
Desirable: Master ‘s degree in Law, social science or related field.

Experience

Essential: Candidates with 1 to 3 years of work experience in social development sector with focus on research and policy advocacy.

Skills and competencies

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in generating quality research reports.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel within and outside Karnataka.
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills.

Desirable: 

  • Ability to work in a team, contributing to both team and individual goals.
  • Good communication skills, organising and time management skills.
