Call for Papers: Annual Conference 2025 eighth Annual South Asia Conference at Dublin City University, 17-19 April 2025.

The Ireland India Institute is pleased to announce that its eighth Annual South Asia Conference will take place in-person at Dublin City University, 17-19 April 2025.

Doctoral researchers and early-career researchers are encouraged to apply. We also encourage papers from underrepresented groups including from Dalit, Queer and other subaltern perspectives. Deadline for abstracts is 15th December 2024. Successful applicants will be informed by 13th January 2025. Full papers should be submitted by 31st March 2025 for circulation. All enquiries should be sent to [email protected]

Please note a registration fee of €30 applies to students and €50 to faculty and independent researchers. A limited number of needs-based bursaries will be available to successful applicants who require financial assistance to attend the conference. This will take the form of 3 nights accommodation on the DCU campus covered by the conference organisers.

We invite abstracts that fall within the following themes, broadly defined:

  1. Voices from South Asia: literature, film, the performing arts, and media
  2. Gender Studies – interdisciplinary, intersectional, and interactional developments
  3. Domestic politics and international relations of South Asia
  4. History and historiographies of South Asia
  5. Economic prosperity, equity, and sustainability in South Asia
  6. Climate resilience and climate justice in South Asia
  7. Culture, tradition, and religion – South Asian lived experiences
  8. Intersectional approaches to diaspora studies, migration, displacement, and trauma research
  9. Urban spaces, mobility and informality in South Asia
  10. Technology and AI in South Asia
  11. Non-traditional research methodologies focusing on but not limited to visual arts, storytelling and sensory studies
