Call for Applications: American Society of International Law, International Criminal Law Interest Group International Criminal Law Scholarship Prize
The International Criminal Law Interest Group (ICL IG) of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) is pleased to announce the creation of the International Criminal Law Scholarship Prize. Beginning in April 2025, this prize will be awarded annually to the author(s) of an article or book chapter that the Selection Committee deems outstanding in the field of international criminal law. The prize will be formally announced at the 2025 ASIL Annual Meeting.
Eligibility
The Selection Committee will consider scholarly publications addressing key issues in international criminal law, including but not limited to:
• The prosecution and adjudication of international crimes (e.g., genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression)
• The functioning and jurisprudence of international criminal courts and tribunals (e.g., the International Criminal Court, ad hoc tribunals)
• International criminal legal theory
• Intersections between international criminal law and other fields (e.g., human rights, transitional justice, or humanitarian law).
Eligible works include articles and chapters from edited volumes in the English language, published between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
Prize
The winner of the International Criminal Law Scholarship Prize will receive:
• A certificate of recognition
• A one-year complimentary membership in ASIL
• Public recognition at the ASIL Annual Meeting in April 2025 and promotion through ASIL channels
Submission Process
Submissions must be received by January 15, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Submissions must include:
• A cover letter confirming eligibility
• The article or book chapter (in PDF format)
• The author’s contact information (email, phone, address)
• A curriculum vitae or résumé
