Introduction

Erasmus School of Law, department of Law & Markets, is looking for a full-time PhD researcher Law, technology and the human body (5 years, with 20% teaching duties).

 

Job description

The selected candidate will be part of the Department of Law & Markets, a vibrant and diverse academic community. The overarching mission of the Department of Law and Markets (L&M) is to develop and deliver high-quality research and education on legal institutions that shape markets and their implications for sustainability and socio-economic justice. More specifically, the research group studies legal and societal problems that arise in the complex dynamics of international, European and national law that regulate trade, industry, investment, money and more generally markets. The emphasis is on how law in whatever form can be made socially, ecologically and financially sustainable, how to deal with technological innovation on an inclusive basis and how to combine private and public interests in a responsible manner. Researchers have various profiles, including public law, international and EU law, legal theory and commercial law, and the department has a special focus on multidisciplinary research.

Job requirements

We are looking for candidates who:

  • hold a Master’s degree in law or another discipline relevant to this PhD position;
  • Possess scientific research skills;
  • Have excellent English skills, both written and spoken (see application format for requirements)
  • Be able to teach in Dutch (or be willing to learn Dutch during the first year of the PhD trajectory).

The teaching tasks take place within the programmes and subjects of the Law & Markets department; the specific teaching tasks are determined based on the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the department, and may be in the areas of law and technology, Dutch constitutional and administrative law, international and European law, legal theory and philosophy, and commercial law. The teaching tasks are mainly in Dutch. Teaching in English may also be part of the tasks.
