About the Centre for Environment and Sustainability
Established on 5th June 2024, Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES) is a research, practice and outreach centre that focuses on environment and sustainability.
CES aims to develop knowledge base, conduct research, training, capacity building and to collaborate with all the stakeholders in order to develop innovative solutions and policies for sustainable future. Our vision is to provide a space for research, practice and outreach to interested parties for creating a greener earth in which people are conscious of their environmental responsibilities and practice the principles of reduction, reuse and recycling of resources thus promoting sustainable development.
About the Symposium
In the wake of escalating environmental degradation, climate emergencies, and legal reforms, there is an urgent need for a multidisciplinary discourse on environmental law. The Indian legal system has evolved through constitutional mandates, legislative enactments, and a proactive judiciary to respond to ecological challenges. However, gaps in enforcement, emerging environmental crimes, and socio-economic inequalities necessitate a re-evaluation of existing frameworks.
This 1st IILM Symposium on Environmental Law seeks to provide a vibrant platform for legal scholars, practitioners, students, policymakers, and civil society members to engage in scholarly deliberations, interactive workshops, and creative activities that highlight legal, policy, and grassroots dimensions of environmental protection.
Objectives:-
· To foster critical discussions on contemporary environmental legal issues.
