Call for PhD Projects in Gender, Violence, Migration & Borders, Application Deadline- 11 July 2025
Project Summary
This opportunity is part of a larger body of research funded by the Australian Research Council, focused on Domestic and Family Violence. However, it is not limited to or directly tied to that specific project. We welcome research that will explore the intersections of violence against women and borders.
Project Details
We are inviting expressions of interest from both domestic and international applicants with migrant or refugee backgrounds who are committed to advancing impactful research in Australia or globally that is focused on the intersections of migration, borders and gendered violence.
As the successful candidate, You will demonstrate:
- A academic background in the field of criminology, sociology, gender studies, law or a related field.
- Experience with research methodology (quantitative or qualitative).
- Strong time and project management skills with ability to work to priorities.
- The ability to write research reports or other publications to a publishable standard (even if not published to date)
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills, time management and problem-solving abilities.
You must also meet the entry requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy – Arts at the University of Melbourne (link attached) including English language requirements and demonstrate excellent capacity and potential for research.
