About NHRC Internship
The National Human Rights Commission of India is a Statutory public body constituted on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of 28 September 1993. It was given a statutory basis by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
Recently NHRC has launched the “Online Short Term Internship Programme November, 2021″ (OSTI- NOV 2021)” for all the students out there. This internship program has been launched with the purpose to spread awareness among University students about the need for protection and promotion of Human Rights, the Commission has been regularly conducting Internship Programmes’ since 1998.
This internship is of 15 days that will start from 1st November, 2022 to 15th November, 2022
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should meet up the following requirements to be eligible for this internship:
(i) Students studying in 3rd year and onwards of an integrated 5 years PG
Course
(ii) Students studying in 3rd / final year of graduation course
(iii) Students of any semester/year of any post-graduate degree course
(iv) Students of any semester/ year of any post-graduate diploma course
(v) Students who are research scholars in any stream.
(vi) Students must have consistently attained a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent courses including the presently pursued courses.
Required Documents
The candidates need to submit the following documents along with their application:
i. Scanned Self attested mark-sheets from 12th Standard onwards
ii. Scanned Statement of Purposes (SOPs) and
iii. Scanned Recommendation letter/email by HOD/Dean/Principal concerned in the annexed Proforma.
Note
A 250 words write-up on the topic “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship” will be required to be submitted by the applicants along with the application form online which will also serve as a basis of selection. Students who have research potential in the areas relating to human rights will be preferred (to be indicated in the write-up).
Agenda of Internship
The interns will be going through the following works and events during the internship:
- Address/Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson and Members of NHRC and other domain Experts.
- Project work on Human Right issues.
- Book Review to be submitted by the students.
- Films on Human Rights & Discussion – Child Labour issues, Anti Trafficking, Health including mental health and Education issues and discussions.
- Virtual Field Visit– 1. Virtual visit to Jail 2. Virtual field visit to Police Station 3. Virtual field visit to NGO.
The students will get a chance to see the working of these institutions and may get their related questions addressed.
Important Dates
The last date for submission of the application is 31st July, 2022 (11:59PM).
Stipend
All the interns will be given a a stipend of Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only) after successfully completing the internship.
Certificate
Yes, there will be a free professional certificate by NHRC for all the interns.
