About the Organisation
Young Lawyers Forum is a Not-for-Profit Registered Society based in Srinagar, J&K. The Organization works in the areas of Public Interest Litigation and Public Legal Awareness besides advocating for quality legal education and research amongst students of law by various initiatives in the nature of competitions, workshops and career guidance to budding lawyers
About the Journal
The Journal of Legal Theory and Practice is one such ambitious initiative of the Organization. The Journal will cover contemporary legal issues across diverse areas of the legal field and will be a great opportunity for people associated with the field to get their work published and publicized.
It will be a blind peer-reviewed and refereed journal, intended to promote quality legal research. The editorial team on board are well-known and qualified legal experts in different areas of law.
About Call for Papers
Young Lawyers Forum is issuing a Call for Papers for the first edition of its journal titled “Journal of Legal Theory and Practice [JLTP]” for Vol. 1 (Annual Issue 2023).
It will be an annual, double blind, peer reviewed and refereed journal, intended to promote quality legal research. The editorial team on board are well known and qualified legal experts in different areas of law.
Theme
Authors can submit their works on any Legal theme of contemporary relevance.
Exclusivity
JLTP shall accept only original and unpublished manuscripts of the author(s). In case, the manuscript is under consideration at any stage with any other publication platform, the author must make a disclosure of the same upon submission of their manuscript following which the submission will be considered for preliminary review.
However, only submissions made exclusively to JLTP shall be forwarded for qualitative review for which the author(s) shall be given an option to proceed exclusively or withdraw their submission.

- Long Articles – 5000-10000 words
- Short Articles – 3000-4800 words
- Format Guidelines
- Font Style- Times New Roman
- Main Title – Size 14, center aligned, in bold.
- Headings within the main text – Size 12 sentence case, left aligned, numbered (1, 2, 3….), in bold.
- Subheadings within the main text – Size 12, sentence case, left aligned, in italics, numbered using decimal levels (e.g. First sub-heading under Heading 1 to be numbered as 1.1, Second subheading as 1.2, and so on.)
- Footnotes – Size 10
- Line Spacing – must be 1.5 for the main text and 1.0 for footnotes.
- General alignment must be justified.
- Abstract Formatting: Style: Times New Roman, Size:12, Italics
- Citations must conform to standards laid in the OSCOLA (4th edition)/ Blue Book (20th edition). Speaking footnotes are discouraged.
General Guidelines
- An abstract of not more than 250 words providing a capsule summary of the paper followed by 6 keywords is mandatory.
- Co-Authorship of up to two authors is permitted
- Plagiarism of up to 20% is permissible.
- All submissions must be in (.docx) format
- Manuscripts not in conformity with the Submission Guidelines may be rejected at the sole discretion of the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board reserves the right to send the manuscripts back to the authors for any modification(s) at any stage, in the event of non-conformity with any of the submission guidelines.
Note: Authors are requested to strictly adhere to the guidelines.
Submission Guidelines
- Submissions shall be taken on a rolling basis exclusively through the form provided at the end of the post.
- Authors of co-authored manuscripts are required to designate one amongst themselves as corresponding authors. All communications regarding the processing of their manuscripts shall be addressed to the corresponding author their e-mail address.
- Authors of single-authored papers do not need to provide correspondence details separately.
- The following files in .doc only format are required to be uploaded:
- A cover letter consisting of the following details of all the authors:
- Name of the Author(s) along with phone number and e-mail address.
- Affiliation (Student/Lawyer/Researcher/Academic). Students are required to indicate the program name and year of study.
- Name of the institution affiliated with.
- Title of Submission
- Total Word Count of Manuscript (Abstract, Keywords, and Manuscript Body).
- A cover letter consisting of the following details of all the authors:
- Manuscript File requirements:
- The file name must only contain the title of the Manuscript and no other information.
- The file must contain the following in the same order as specified: Title, Abstract, Keywords, and the Manuscript.
- Important: The Manuscript file should not contain any information which can serve as identity markers of the Author(s) or their institution.
