About CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India is the supreme audit institution of India, established under Article 148 of the Constitution of India.

About the Competition

Being held for the second successive year, the aim of the competition is to make the youths of the country aware of the workings of the CAG as an institution, its constitutional mandate, and its prime role and responsibilities in promoting public accountability and good governance.

This year’s competitive essay title is ‘Celebrating the Resilience of Indian Democracy and the Role of CAG of India’. Participants can submit their writings in either Hindi or English language.

  • Declaration of Result: October 27, 2023

Topic

Celebrating the Resilience of Indian Democracy and the Role of CAG of India

Who is it for?

  • Any student who is an Indian citizen, less than 25 years of age as on 20 July 2023, and enrolled in a recognised university program, is eligible to apply.
  • Employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department shall not be eligible
    for participating in the competition.

Submission Guidelines

  • Participants may write their essay in either Hindi or English.
  • The length of the essay should not exceed 1500 words.
  • Plagiarism or nonconformity to the guidelines will lead to disqualification of the participant.
  • Formatting Guidelines
  • The essay must be typed in an A-4 size MS word document using Calibri font for English and Mangal font for Hindi, having size 12 with 1.5” spacing.
  • How to Submit?
  • The participants would be required to submit six documents online as attachments in a single e-mail to the address: [email protected].
  • The subject of the e-mail should be written as “CAG’s National Online Essay Writing Competition”.
  • Participants should send the essays in MS word docx – Calibri (English)/Mangal (Hindi) and pdf format. The names of both the .docx and .pdf file should be the e-mail id (excluding the domain name) of the
    participant followed by language (English/Hindi)1 in which the essay has been written.
  • Essays sent by post will not be considered. Mention of the participant’s name/email or other personal details anywhere in the body of the essay will lead to disqualification.

Awards

The winning candidates will receive cash awards of ₹30,000 (first prize), ₹20,000 (second prize) and ₹15,000 (third prize).
