The ‘Criminal Law Forum’ at Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai, has been set up to promote research, training, policy analysis, and consultancy in the fields of Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, criminology, and Victimology. The Center looks forward to engaging in intensive research around the prevalent topics and thriving to develop good research papers and blogs eligible to be printed in Law Journals. The forum also looks forward to
providing solutions to facilitate victim-friendly prosecution and justice. The Center regularly conducts workshops, seminars, training programs, conferences, and symposiums on the subjects mentioned above.
About the Event
The National Seminar on “Criminal Law and the Criminal Justice System: Contemporary Challenges” is a thought-provoking event bringing together, experts and enthusiasts to explore the dynamic shifts in the field of criminal law.
The national seminar features a discussion on the three pivotal bills aimed at amending the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act. With legal scholars, practitioners, and policymakers from across the country, this seminar offers a platform to deliberate on the amendment’s potential impact on the criminal justice system. The seminar was a significant event that fostered a deeper understanding of how these bills are poised to shape the future of criminal law in India. All the dignitaries, field experts, and policy advisors have been kind enough to accept our invitation.
About the Indian Society for Criminology (ISC)
The Indian Society of Criminology (ISC) was established in 1970 to advance the study and application of Criminology and Allied sciences for the welfare of society. It also endeavoured to facilitate cooperation among persons interested in the prevention and control of crime, which has escalated over time. Over a short span, the ISC developed into a pioneering National organization due to the cumulative efforts of its dedicated founders.
The society was initiated by professionals, namely, Professor T. E. Shanmugam, Mr Pitchandi, Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer, Mr. Pon Paramaguru, IPS, Professor K. Chockalingam; and Mr K. Mani. Lately, this enterprise has extended and decided to promote Criminological education and advanced Research in the area of Criminology, and it is in this spirit that the Indian Society of Criminology (ISC) organizes an International Conference every year, at different locations. A platform that has now become a major attraction for budding criminologists to shape their thinking and invite interest in the interdisciplinary field of criminology
