Conference Title: Contemporary Security Threats in the South and South East Asia Region
Purpose of the Conference
SSEASRC at the University of Buckingham will organise its first in-person annual two-day conference. This conference aims to critically evaluate Contemporary Security Threats in the South and South East Asia Region. We want to facilitate cutting-edge research and debate on the region’s security issues and are keen on inviting practitioners and academics researching this region to share their viewpoints. We invite research paper abstracts on the following four main subthemes:
– China’s rise and Asian economic security
– Arms control and nuclear proliferation
– Terrorism and terrorist organisations in the region
– Border security and the national state
Outcomes of the Conference
The research papers presented at the conference will be published as a ‘special edition’ by the University of Buckingham Press. Furthermore, to fulfil the aims of SSEASRC to be at the forefront of research and analysis of South and South East Asia emerging security trends, the conference will host keynote speakers from countries in this politically and economically dynamic region, thus enabling opportunities for networking, collaboration and enhanced academic interaction.
