The series will contribute in the area Critical Food Studies in the following manner:
- Though Critical Food Studies is not a commonly engaged field of studies across the globe, yet a lot of research projects are being currently shaped around this paradigm.
- Irrespective of disciplinary expertise, food habits and culinary practices shape the daily experiences of every living beings. As a result, the series will attract contributions from diverse academic and research disciplines.
- The books in the series will be catalogued by diverse libraries, institutions distributors and booksellers across the globe because it will cover several academic disciplines. Also, the thematic directions in which the books under the series would be published will enable the educational and research institutions to use them as primary and secondary books in different courses of Sociology, History, Anthropology, Psychology, Literature, Ocean Studies, Critical Race Studies, and Cultural Studies.
- There is also a network called “Critical Food Studies” (https://www.criticalfoodstudies.co.za/) in South Africa that organizes conferences, workshops and publishing programs. A few members from this network would be on the advisory board of this series.
