Call for Applications! for REGIONAL COURSE IN INTERNATIONAL LAW FOR ASIA-PACIFIC! United Nations Regional Course!

18 November to 11 December 2024 

The United Nations Regional Courses in International Law are conducted under the United Nations Programme of Assistance in the Teaching, Study, Dissemination and Wider Appreciation of International Law. The United Nations Programme of Assistance was established by General Assembly resolution 2099 (XX) of 20 December 1965 to contribute towards a better knowledge of international law as a means of strengthening international peace and security and promoting friendly relations and cooperation among States.

PARTICIPATION/QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS

To be considered for the Regional Courses, candidates must have a legal background with professional experience in the field of international law. Candidates must also be fluent in the language in which the Regional Course is offered (English). The selected candidates are required to certify that they are able to attend the Regional Course in its entirety. The Regional Course accommodates up to 30 participants. The Regional Course for Asia-Pacific is open to candidates from Member States and the observer State to the United Nations in the Asia-Pacific region.

SELECTION PROCESS

When selecting participants for the Regional Courses, due consideration is given to the candidates’ qualifications, to the scope of their professional duties, to the relevance of the training to their professional duties, and to gender balance. Applications from qualified female candidates are encouraged.

VENUE AND COURSE LANGUAGE

The Regional Course for Asia-Pacific will be held at the facilities of UNESCAP, in Bangkok, from 18 November to 11 December 2024. It will be conducted in English. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Applicants whose mother tongue or language of instruction is not English are required to submit proof of their language abilities and to provide a valid language certification.
