Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £56,921 to £65,814 with potential progression once in post to £85,544

Background

Birmingham Law School is seeking to appoint two Associate Professors in Law to contribute to the leadership and delivery of research, teaching, engagement and impact in the School. This investment in excellent scholars to join our thriving community is open to applicants working in any area of law.

Main Duties

  • Develop, plan and lead research activities and programmes of outstanding quality and international repute, publishing high-quality internationally excellent and world leading research outputs.
  • Contribute to delivery and development of the Birmingham Law School’s portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, using innovative research-informed teaching to inspire and engage students.
  • Develop and lead collaborative working arrangements with colleagues across the School, College and wider University to deliver outstanding research and teaching.
  • Provide leadership in sustained high-quality research, knowledge transfer, enterprise, business engagement, public engagement or similar activities.

Person Specification

  • A PhD relevant to the research/teaching area or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated excellence in at least Research, with competence in Learning and Teaching and Management and Administration.
  • An excellent national reputation and a developing international profile through significant original research work and a clear record of impact.
  • An excellent teaching profile and performance in terms of both impact and quality. The teaching quality demonstrated to be informed by an appropriate level of scholarship.
  • Demonstrated significant achievement in management and administration-related activities, which may include leadership of activities/initiatives.
