Queer Asia: film, literature and (digital) media
This Collection seeks submissions about research on gender and sexual diversity in Asia, with a special focus on media (film, literature, TV, digital) culture.
Asian media and culture that feature non-normative representation, identity, desire and imagination have spread across inter-/intra-Asian, transnational, and transcultural boundaries. Due to digital mediums such as streaming video services, short-form video apps and music, there has been a rise in the popularity of Asian queer media that reaches audiences regionally and globally. Queer cinema, literature and media from Asia is re-shaping and re-positioning “queerness” and marginalised identities in a global cultural and media landscape.
