AI-Driven Transformation: Integrating Innovation Management and Project Management for the Future

The special issue of IJMPB will focus on issues surrounding Artificial Intelligence, Innovation Management and Project Management in order to focus on how AI is reshaping the intersection of innovation management and project management, providing both theoretical insights and practical applications.

AI could be considered as a bridge, uniting innovation and project management by streamlining the flow of information and improving collaboration. Generative AI, with its intuitive and accessible interface, empowers a wider range of professionals to participate in AI-driven problem-solving, facilitating the generation of new ideas, designs, and solutions across various fields (Müller et al., 2024; Dwivedi et al., 2022). Furthermore, AI’s ability to foster innovation through design automation and idea generation provides the structure needed in project management to turn creative insights into actionable results. This alignment between AI-driven innovation and project management can lead to the co-creation of novel solutions, accelerating time-to-market while maintaining high levels of quality and efficiency. The evolving capabilities of AI, particularly in its generative functions, represent a transformative leap forward, driving creativity and fostering innovation in ways previously unimaginable. As AI becomes increasingly advanced, it introduces significant opportunities and numerous challenges and unanswered questions (Borges et al., 2021; Mustak et al., 2023; Mariani et al., 2023).

Considering these developments, we are issuing a call for papers that aim to explore the transformative role of AI, in reshaping innovation and project management practices. By addressing the intersection of these two domains, the call seeks to advance academic and practical understanding of how AI can be leveraged to enhance decision-making, optimize resource management, and foster creativity in organizational contexts.
