About the Program
Biodiversity governance refers to the frameworks, policies, institutions, and mechanisms established to facilitate conservation and regulate the sustainable use of biodiversity at global, national, and local levels. Compliance practices ensure that these governance structures are effectively implemented and adhered to by governments, businesses, and individuals. The Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) framework at the global level is governed under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Nagoya Protocol. Biodiversity Governance is directly connected to the sustenance of all major industry sectors, the livelihood of the rural population and the survival of mankind. The international, regional and domestic laws in this area have undergone significant transition in the last two decades.
