Call for Papers for Journal of International Economics and Management Special Issue on “Digital Transformation, ESG Practices, and Economic Development in Emerging Markets”

As artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data analytics reshape industries, emerging markets encounter unique opportunities and challenges in aligning these innovations with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Therefore, the special issue of the Journal of International Economics and Management aims to foster dialogue on how digital innovation can enhance corporate sustainability, promote inclusive economic growth, and enable businesses to meet global ESG standards while addressing regional constraints. It also seeks to investigate how digital transformation can bridge gaps in ESG implementation, particularly in markets with evolving regulatory frameworks and technological infrastructure. We invite rigorous, evidence-based contributions that offer fresh insights into leveraging digital technologies for social impact and robust ESG performance in developing economies.

This special issue pioneers a novel exploration of digital transformation’s role in advancing sustainability within developing economies. Unlike prior studies that broadly address technological advancements, it uniquely investigates how digital technologies and digital transformation process shape Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies. By focusing on emerging markets, the issue is expected to illuminate distinct challenges and opportunities in aligning digital innovation with corporate sustainability and inclusive growth. It bridges critical gaps in understanding how evolving technological and regulatory landscapes influence ESG implementation, offering fresh, evidence-based insights into leveraging digital tools for social impact and sustainable economic development.
