CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: BRANDON RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP 2026-27, LAUTERPACHT CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL LAW, APPLY BY 7 APRIL 2026
The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is pleased to invite applications for the 20262027 Brandon Research Fellowship, funded by generous gifts from Mr Michael Brandon MA, LLB, LLM (Cantab), MA (Yale) (1923–2012) and Mr Christopher Brandon
The Lauterpacht Centre provides a base for research in Cambridge for legal practitioners and academics from around the world. The Brandon Fellow will be welcomed as part of the community of visiting scholars at the Centre. Whilst in Cambridge, visiting scholars will have the opportunity to meet with other researchers in their field and are encouraged to participate fully in the activities of the Centre, including the Friday lectures and the work-in-progress seminars of the visiting fellows/scholars. Visiting scholars have access to the Centre’s library, the University Library (on application) and the Faculty of Law’s Squire Law Library.
Candidates working in areas connected to LCIL fellows’ projects and activities are given particular consideration.
Fellows must produce a report of their work in English at the end of their Fellowship and deposit with the Lauterpacht Centre any publication resulting from the work undertaken during the Fellowship. The support received from the Brandon Research Fellowship at LCIL should be acknowledged in the publication.
Preference will be given to candidates who are nationals of members of the European Union; members of the Commonwealth; Argentina; Brazil; Chile; China; Japan; Panama; Serbia; Switzerland; and the United States of America.
Preference will be given to candidates who do not have the means to come to the Centre, and who have not yet been to the Centre. Applications from regions or countries underrepresented among former LCIL visiting fellows are particularly welcome.
