Call for applications: fully funded research visits for PhD students and postdocs in economics interested in AI, Application Deadline- 31 October 2026

From January to July 2027, CERGIC (École normale supérieure de Lyon) will host a thematic semester, “AI for Applied Economics: Data, Methods and Challenges”. Around four axes (AI and historical data, AI and text analysis, AI and spatial data, and fairness and AI’s algorithmic bias), the program will include an inaugural conference, a seminar series, an intensive training course on LLMs and four thematic workshops.

As part of the semester, we offer fully funded research visits at CERGIC to PhD students and postdocs in economics who use AI in their research (broadly defined), plan to do so, or are interested in its impact. Visitors will present their work and get feedback, take part in the semester’s events during their stay, and be fully integrated into the department.

📍 The visit would last from one week to one month in Lyon (France), between January and July 2027

🚄 Round-trip travel covered with accommodation up to roughly €1,500 per visit

📅 Applications received by 31 October 2026 are reviewed first, then on a rolling basis

✉️ To apply: a short statement (max. 10 lines), your availability and a CV to cergic.ai.semester@gmail.com
