ABOUT HIMACHAL PRADESH UNIVERSITY:

Himachal Pradesh University, a premier institution of teaching and research in the country, is situated at Summer Hill, a suburb of Shimla at a distance of 5 km. from the main town. It covers 200 acres of lush green land and offers a panoramic view with its distinctive architectural style. It was established in 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The Government of Himachal Pradesh and the University Grants Commission mainly finance it. The University has 12 Faculties and 30 Teaching Departments covering various programmes such as Management, and Vocational Studies; Commerce ; Engineering and Technology; Languages; Law; Life and Physical Sciences; Social Sciences; Ayurveda, Dental, and Medical Sciences; Information Technology, Computer Science, Performing and Visual Arts. The University also has its Academic Staff College which offers Orientation and Refresher Courses for University and college teachers. As many as two hundred seventy colleges/institutions (govt./private) from within the State are affiliated to the University in addition to Centres of Distance Education (ICDEOL), Evening Studies, Legal Studies and Regional Centre at Dharamshala.

ADMISSION NOTICE:

Online Applications for direct admission to Ph.D. Programme 2021-2022 in the University Teaching Departments/Institutes are invited from the eligible candidates who have applied UGC NET(JRF)/ UGC-CSIR(JRF) INSPIRE/ RAJIV GANDHI FELLOWSHIP/ MAULANA AZAD FELLOWSHIP/ AWARDEES OF TEACHER/ FELLOWSHIP/ SPONSERED BY ICSSR/ DBT-JRF, ICMR or ANY OTHER DEPARTMENT OF GOVT. OF INDIA.

Online applications are also invited from Himachal Pradesh Universiry teachers/college teachers teaching in Colleges affiliated to/ maintained by H.P. University and disabled students for Dirext Admission against one Supremumerary seat each in all the Departments.

IN CASE, SEATS REMAIN VACANT, AN ENTRANCE TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED FOR ADMISSION TO PH.D PROGRAMME IN DECEMBER, 2021. NOTIFICATION TO THJS EFFECT WILL BE ISSUED SUBSEQUENTLY AND WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE UNIVERSITY WEBSITE I.e. www.hpuniv.nc.in/ www.admissions.hpushimla.in www.hpuniv.nc.in/ www.admissions.hpushimla.in

Online form should be submitted on or before 9th August, 2021.

No, request for change of category once opted/filled in the applications form after last date of application notified by the Universiry will not be entertained under any circumstances.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Candidates for admission to the Ph.D programme shall have a master’s degree or a professional degree equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% Mark’s in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC – 7 point scale(or a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • A relaxation of 5% Mark’s, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/ Differently- able and other categories of candidates as well the decisions of the universirg taken from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

Only in-service teachers of H.P University/colleges ( affiliated/maintained by H.P. University) and disabled students can apply for one Supermumerary seat in all the Departments.
