ABOUT TNNLU
TNNLU is located in Srirangam Taluk of the Tiruchirappalli Corporation, formerly known as Trichinopoly. This institution of learning was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012) to provide quality legal education. TNNLU is the brainchild of the former Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr.J.Jayalalithaa who laid its foundation stone on 13th February 2012. TNNLU’s Vision is to impart quality legal education nurtured within a robust culture of interdisciplinary and teaching in an equitable, respectful and supportive environment producing legal practitioners and scholars who will be committed to justice, social transformation and national development. Its mission is to achieve global recognition as an institution of eminence and excellence in all spheres of legal education, rooted in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of law, such that the graduates of TNNLU will be independent, critical thinkers and socially responsible human beings TNNLU commenced its functioning from the academic year 2013-2014. TNNLU offers two five years integrated Under Graduate Programmes, B.A.LLB. (Hons.) & B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) and three one-year LL.M. Programmes: – Corporate and Securities Laws, Intellectual Property Laws and Natural Resources Laws. TNNLU aims to develop among the students and faculty a sense of responsibility to the society
through an interdisciplinary approach to the study of law. TNNLU is a fully residential campus with separate hostels for men and women. TNNLU library has an updated Web OPAC system, Remote Access facility, and air-conditioned discussion rooms.
The University Grants Commission has included TNNLU in the approved list of Universities. The Bar Council of India has granted recognition to TNNLU as a Center for Legal Education. TNNLU is a member of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Asian Law Institute, and Indian Academy of Social Sciences (permanent member). TNNLU is also an impaneled institution with the Competition Commission of India.
ABOUT IALE
The Indian Association of Law and Economics Association (IALE) was formed at the International Conference on Law and Economics, 3-4 September, 2016 at IIT, Kanpur. In the said conference, IALE was conceptualized by the Consortium of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. The Association works on socio-economic-legal and technological challenges relevant at the National and International levels through research initiatives and policy research through conferences, seminars and workshops.
The Objectives of the IALE are following:
- To provide a common forum for scholars, professionals for research, publications, exchange of knowledge information in the field of Law and Economics;
- To promote the interdisciplinary field of Law and Economics in India and abroad;
- To advise and educate the general public about the fields of Law and Economics;
- To organize conferences, training program, and workshops in different parts of the country for the advancement of knowledge in the field of Law and Economics;
- To publish journal or periodicals in the field of Law and Economics;
- To associate or to form joint projects with any other institutions, universities, NGOs or other organizations in India and abroad for the promotion of research knowledge in the fields of law and economics.
