The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (www.tiss.edu), established in the year 1936 is a Deemed to be University, fully funded by the University Grants Commission, Govt of India. TISS is a Grade I University with NAAC score of 3.89/4 and NIRF 2021 rank of 37 among Indian Universities and 70 overall.
With campuses at Mumbai (Main) and off-campuses at Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad, TISS offers over 50 Post Graduate programmes, 18 Doctoral programmes, and 3 Under Graduate programmes in a range of socially relevant inter-disciplinary and applied social science disciplines, and over 30 B.Voc. programmes.

The Guwahati Campus offers academic programmes viz., B.A , M.A. and Ph.D ProgrammeS. The programmes focuses on humanistic aspects of Social Sciences blended with logical reasoning of the natural sciences, with a combine emphasis on the faculties of imagination and creativity as well as of rigorous and critical thinking.
The TISS Guwahati campus invites applications for four posts of Assistant Professors, in the following disciplines , to be filled on contract basis for one year initially and extendable based on performance of candidate and requirement by the Institute:
I. Assistant Professor in Social Work, specializing in Counselling, Centre for Counselling, School of Social Work
II. Assistant Professor in Economics, Centre for Undergraduate Studies (CUGS)
III. Assistant Professor in Psychology, Centre for Undergraduate Studies (CUGS)
IV. Assistant Professor in Sociology, Centre for Undergraduate Studies (CUGS)
Remuneration:Consolidated salary of Rs. 65,568/- p.m. (Pay Band Rs. 15600 – 39100 ; AGP Rs. 6000/-) in 6th CPC as approved by funder.

Interview: The eligible candidates will be communicated by an e-mail to appear for the presentation and interview to be conducted at TISS, Mumbai.
Verification of documents: The shortlisted candidates are required to send scanned copies of their coloured passport size photograph, self-attested photocopies of relevant certificates in support of the essential qualification & experience. Original certificates will be verified only for the selected candidate at the time of appointment.
Note: The selected candidate would be required to join within 15 days of selection and must be stationed at Guwahati.
