  • Age:
    • Not exceeding 35 years for General and EWS Category candidates as on normal closing date. 
    • Not exceeding 40 years for Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes candidates and 
    • Not exceeding 38 years for Other Backward Classes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them.
    • Relaxable for regularly appointed Central /U.T. Government Servant up to Five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time.
  • Pay Scale: Revised Pay as per 7th CPC Level-10 (Rs. 56100-177500) in the Pay Matrix (Pre-revised Pay Band -3 (Rs. 15600-39100 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/-) (Total emoluments excluding T.A. & HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 56,100/- plus DA as applicable per month approximately).
  • Probation: Two years.
  • Headquarters: Headquarters is in Delhi. However, candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India.

  • Essential Qualification(s):
    • EDUCATIONAL– Degree in Law of a recognized University. Note-I – Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
    • EXPERIENCE- Seven years’ practice at the Bar in conducting criminal cases. Note-II – The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes, if at any stage of selection, the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
  • Duty/ Responsibilities: 
    • Public Prosecutor will perform all such duties which are allotted by Deputy Legal Adviser / Senior Public Prosecutor in consultation with Head of Branch. 
    • Public Prosecutor will conduct prosecution of cases, allotted by Senior Public Prosecutor. Public Prosecutor will submit Court diaries and keep the Senior Public Prosecutor and Head of Branch informed of all developments in cases. 
    • Public Prosecutor will ensure maintenance of records and registers and prepare such statements, returns and reports as may be directed by the Senior Public Prosecutor or Head of Branch. 
    • Public Prosecutor will give comments on Final Reports. Senior most Public Prosecutor of Branch will conduct inspection of Malkhana in case no Senior Public Prosecutor is posted in branch.
