About the School:

The School for Law and Technology (SLT) explores the legal, ethical, and policy implications of new and emerging technologies to provide a forum for informed debate and analysis of interdisciplinary aspects. The primary areas of focus for the SLT includes intellectual property, privacy & data protection, cybersecurity, digital commerce, artificial intelligence and policy impact on trade, commerce and society.
SLT facilitates a platform to contribute towards policy inputs, impact study of legislations to facilitate incisive public debate on the focus areas. The prime objectives of the School are mainly to facilitate public discourse and informed debate on technology related issues. It also aims to provide a platform for jurisprudential and empirical research relating to technology and its impact on the society at large by advocacy inputs.

About the CLS:

The Centre for Law and Sciences at HNLU, Raipur was established, in the year 2023, with an objective to develop research, teaching and advocacy in Law and its interface with science advances, innovation
and technology. The Centre also aims to focus on promotion of interdisciplinary research and analysis on legal, ethical, and policy implications of new scientific developments and emerging technologies. The Center seeks to provide a platform for research relating to scientific advancements and its impact on the society at large by advocacy inputs.

About the Competition:

Who can participate?
❖ The CLS is organizing a national level online essay writing
competition. We invite original contributions in the form of
essays from bonafide students in an Indian University enrolled
in any UG/ PG course.
❖ Co-authorship of essays is strictly prohibited.

❖ Law and Biosciences
❖ Law and Nuclear Science
❖ Legal Objectivity and Scientific Evidence

Awards
❖ First Position: Certificate of Merit and Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000
❖ Second Position: Certificate of Merit and Cash Prize of Rs. 7500
❖ Third Position: Certificate of Merit and Cash Prize of Rs. 5000
❖ Top 15 participants will receive Certificate of Appreciation
❖ The Center may consider publication of Selected Essays in an edited Book with ISBN number.

Submission Guidelines
Abstract Submission

❖ Prepare an abstract of your essay highlighting its objectives, methodology, and limit the abstract to 200-250 words.
❖ Clearly mention the title of your essay along with the name of the author, contact details of the author and institutional affiliations in the cover letter.

Essay Formatting
❖ Follow the Bluebook (20 th Edition) style of citation.
❖ Word limit for the paper is 3500 – 5000 words.
❖ Use headings and subheadings to organize the content logically and enhance readability.
❖ Papers shall be submitted in electronic format (.doc/.docx format).

Originality and Plagiarism
❖ Submit original research that has not been published or presented elsewhere.
❖ Permissible similarity index is 15% (total) and 5% (from a single source).

Important Dates
Deadline for registration and submission of Essay: 20th October, 2023.
Declaration of Results: 20th November, 2023.
