School of Law, Forensic Justice & Policy Studies presents Certificate course on International air and space law .

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: PROF (DR.) RICKY LEE :
Ricky obtained his LL.B. and B.A. at the University of Adelaide in 1999, followed by an
LL.M. in International Law from the Australian National University in 2001 and a Ph.D. in
International Law from Murdoch University in 2010 with a dissertation on “Creating a
Practical Legal Framework for the Commercial Exploitation of Mineral Resources in Outer
Space”. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Chinese Business Law from the University of
Western Australia. He commenced lecturing at the University of Western Sydney in 2000 and
has worked in legal practice since 1999, specialising in international business law and air and
space law. He is also an Intellectual Forum Senior Research Associate at the Jesus College,
University of Cambridge. He is currently the Adjunct Professor at the University of Notre
Dame, Sydney, Australia

COURSE DESCRIPTION :
This comprehensive course delves into the intricacies of International Air Law and
International Space Law, two dynamic fields that govern the use and regulation of airspace and
outer space. Over the course of seven days, participants will gain a deep understanding of the
legal frameworks that govern aviation and space activities, from historical developments to
contemporary issues. Throughout this course, participants will explore the historical and
structural aspects of international air and space law, fundamental principles of key
conventions, rights, and duties of states in outer space, state responsibility, and sovereignty.
The course also covers contemporary topics such as the regulation of commercial aviation,
space weaponization, property rights on celestial bodies, and private space activities.
This program is designed for legal professionals, students, researchers, and anyone interested
in the legal aspects of air and space activities. The interactive sessions and opportunities for
student engagement will provide a well-rounded understanding of the legal frameworks that
govern the skies and outer space

ELIGIBILITY :
Certificate would be issued to all the registered participants.
Minimum 6 sessions are compulsory to attend for obtaining certificate.
The sessions would be conducted solely in person.
Open to all students pursuing under-graduate, post-graduate, research scholars in law and
international relations.

The enrolment fees for the course:
Free for NFSU students
Rs. 1000/- for non-NFSU students
Certificates would be given to those candidates who qualify the exam to be conducted after the
last session.
