Call for abstracts: New knowledge on migration, development and policy

We have an open call for abstracts until 31 January 2024.
We invite abstracts for an agenda-setting academic conference about the links between migration, development, and policy. Papers should contribute new theoretical or empirical insights on one or more of the following topics:
- How development affects migration
- How migration influences development
- How policy can shape the links between migration and development
The conference marks the end of the MIGNEX project, the largest-ever European-funded research project on migration and development. The project team has collected data on migration and development in 26 local communities in ten countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia and carried out analyses of migration-related policy. The conference combines the presentation of MIGNEX results with insights from other researchers who work on the same overall themes.
All sessions will be plenary. The selection of abstracts will prioritize those that hold the promise of compelling presentations of new insights that make a difference to the field of migration studies. The organizers are examining opportunities for compiling selected papers as proposals for one or two special issues of journals.
There will be no conference fee. Participants must cover their own expenses for travel and accommodation. Applicants from low- and middle-income countries may request financial support for their participation.
Abstracts must be submitted via the online form at bit.ly/mignex2024. In addition to an abstract of 200–250 words, you will be asked to give a brief description (up to 50 words) of the new insights
that you would want the audience to remember from your presentation.
