Fellowship Opportunity: Harvard Kennedy School, CARR Center for Human Rights Policy

The Carr Center welcomes applications from individuals dedicated to advancing the human rights movement through scholarship or practice who are seeking to a몭liate for a year as Fellows. Fellows can be post-docs, scholars, academics on sabbatical, human rights defenders, senior leaders in international organizations, or heads of human rights organizations. Our goal is to craft a cohort in which all fellows will and valuable intellectual partnerships to support and spur their work. The ideal candidates are those
who are willing to invest time and energy into building community with the other fellows in their cohort.

Applications for the 2023–2024 Carr Center Fellowship, Racial Justice Fellowship, and the Technology and Human Rights Fellowship are due on January 5, 2024. Click the links below to learn more about each fellowship and apply.

Carr Center Fellowship
The Carr Center welcomes applications from individuals seeking to a몭liate for a year as Fellows. Fellows can be post-docs, scholars, academics on sabbatical, human rights defenders, senior leaders in international organizations, or heads of human rights organizations. We welcome both emerging and established scholars and practitioners whose research and practice are aligned with the Center’s priorities. Fellows can focus on research and writing, auditing classes, meeting faculty and other experts, leading study groups for students, and participating in other learning opportunities at the Harvard Kennedy School. Carr Fellowships are not funded.

Racial Justice Fellowship
The Racial Justice program focuses on reimagining systems, institutions, and movements to promote racial and economic equity for all. The program strengthens discourse connecting domestic civil rights to global human rights frameworks, and brings together faculty, fellows, students, and the broader University community to collaborate. Racial Justice Fellows will receive a fellowship stipend of $10,000 for the academic year.

Technology and Human Rights Fellowship
The Technology and Human Rights Fellowship is part of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy’s project to examine how technological advances over the next several decades will affect the future of human life, as well as the protections provided by the human rights framework. The project invites candidates to a몭liate with the Center for one academic year to conduct research on the ethical and rights implications of technological advancements in general, and arti몭cial intelligence in particular. Technology and Human Rights Fellowships are not funded.
