Lawyers and Law Graduates and Legal Researchers would be required to be involved at multiple levels at the level of research, communication, programme development and advocacy.

Responsibilities

The work would involve:

• Legal Drafting, Writing and research content, articles, analyses

• Features Articles around the concerns of Human Rights and Social Justice

• Investigations and Interviews

• Tracking Legal cases, reporting on them, analysing judgements

• Drafting legal material (fact sheets, analysis) for our human rights programmes

• Keeping track of fake news, hate news etc. And developing our Hate Tracker Analysis and series.

On CJP we cover issues that are hidden by the shadows and silences of ‘mainstream media.’ Human rights, law and justice delivery, functioning or otherwise of institutions of democracy are also key concerns and our focus areas that inform the choice of our articles. Interviews are with individual players of people’s movements from the grassroots who represent relatively unheard off sections.

Besides the work would also include:

– Uploading documents and legal resources on the CJP website

– Maintaining the website archives

– Research and compilation of content for ‘In Facts’ where we explore an issue factually through brief, analytical segments, divided into sub-heads

– Research and compilation of content for fact-sheets on human rights issues. This will include facts, figures, legal developments, and executive and policy decisions.

– Preparation of primers on judgments/judicial decisions/tribunal decisions; primers on issues arising from judicial decisions; national and international law commission reports

– International Law and International Jurisprudence on Human Rights issues will also require attention

– Preparation of Research Papers (Case Commentaries and Section Commentaries)

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications: Experienced law graduates, legal researchers as well as freshers are welcome. Qualifications and Skills: Law Graduation as also Bachelors is a requirement, proficiency in English and Hindi, Marathi will be preferred.
