5th UFMG International Law Colloquium: The Environment before International Courts and Tribunals: new challenges for international regulation, will take place on April 11-13, 2024, at the Federal University

DETAILS OF THE OPPORTUNITY :

Potential themes for presentation can
comprise, but are not limited to:
• The interpretation of international environmental rules by ICs and Tribunals.
• Procedural challenges posed by environmental/climate disputes.
• Different aspects of advisory opinions concerning climate change.
• The role of ICs in shaping the international environmental/climate regime.
• The protection of environment in conflicts in the international case law.

 

The UFMG Graduate Programme (together with SLADI and ILA-Brazil) invites the submission
of abstracts on the subject until February 29th, 2024. Abstracts should be sent to
[email protected]. Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words and should be
accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae of no more than 2 pages. Submissions can be made in
Portuguese, English, Spanish or French and presented in person. Authors of selected abstracts will
be notified before March 10th, 2024. After the colloquium, the authors of the selected abstracts
will be invited to expand the work in article format, in order to publish it in a special volume
entitled “The Environment Before International Courts and Tribunals”. Limited amount of
financial assistance regarding the accommodation can be offered to PhD students from Latin
America.
