Call for Applications! Centre for Women’s Rights, Jindal Global Law School! July 2024!

The Centre for Women’s Rights (‘Centre’) is a research centre at JGLS, which foregrounds its work in pursuit of inclusive and intersectional justice for women (broadly defined) through state-level, national, regional, and international forums by adopting feminist and interdisciplinary approaches. While being committed to high quality research, the Centre aims to bridge the gap between women’s rights activism at the grassroots level, feminist lawyering in the courts and work undertaken by academia. The work of the Centre focuses on the following broad areas: Violence against Women; Women’s Right to Equality and Non-Discrimination; Women, Peace, and Security; and International Law, Human Rights Standards, and Women’s Rights.

In the light of expansion of work through research projects, academic discussions and outreach activities, CFWR is inviting applications from colleagues at JGLS, specialising either in law or social sciences, for the following posts:*

 Senior Fellow (1 position)

 Fellow (1 position)

 Senior Research Associate (1 position)

 Research Assistant (1 position)

What We Guarantee You:

 A congenial environment to conduct collaborative, cutting edge research in women’s rights and the law;

 Opportunity to be mentored in research from the stage of ideation, culminating in a publication;

 Peer learning and mutual support in the activities of the Centre;

 Engagement with the academic community at JGU;

 Exciting opportunities and exposure to network with like-minded researchers from other geographical and academic contexts; and

 A forum for faculty to present and develop work in progress, drawing on interdisciplinary insights that are methodologically rigorous.

Hours of work expected:

All posts will require a commitment of adequate hours per week commensurate with the work load at the Centre, which may increase depending on the events/projects at the Centre at any given point. All members are expected to be present and participate in all the events and meetings of the Centre.

The appointments will be for an initial period of six months starting from 1 August 2024.

Preference will be given to applicants of all genders, from marginalized backgrounds and historically oppressed communities.
